Luke Edward Stripp (b. 1995, Surrey, British Columbia) is a self-taught Canadian contemporary painter living and working in Lethbridge, Alberta.

His practice is rooted in an early fascination with shape, colour, and the visual world around him. From childhood memories of building with blocks and arranging forms, he developed an enduring interest in the way simple shapes can be transformed into something expressive and recognizable. As he began painting, this interest led him to Cubism and its approach to breaking apart and reconstructing the visual world. The movement became an important early influence, opening a way of thinking about painting beyond straightforward representation.

Today, Stripp's work moves between figuration, abstraction, and geometric form. He works intuitively, allowing colour, structure, and imagery to develop together throughout the painting process. Each work becomes an opportunity to explore how forms can be simplified, rearranged, and given new relationships. Painting is deeply personal to Stripp. Each work grows from something felt, observed, remembered, or questioned, becoming a reflection of the artist at a particular moment in time.

His paintings often retain recognizable figures, objects, or environments while disrupting their familiar structure. The process becomes a way of translating personal experience into visual form. Through the tension between recognition and abstraction, Stripp explores the ways images are remembered, interpreted, and experienced, allowing each painting to carry something of himself within it.

Over the course of his practice, Stripp has produced a body of work encompassing more than 200 paintings. A selection of these works is presented publicly, while the broader catalogue reflects an ongoing and sustained exploration of painting developed independently over several years.

Working primarily in oil, Stripp continues to develop his practice from his studio in Alberta.
